Guitar tabs for the live version of No More Sorrow can be downloaded here: http://lplive.net/astat/Guitar_tabs/Live/Minutes_to_Midnight_Live/

Here's another one of those spiffy live intros LP adds to songs. When they open a show with No More Sorrow, they do this extended intro where Mike adds in some new guitar. This is in Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb tuning. The new part is just octaves followed by repeating the chord from the second part of the intro, but it sounds awesome live (trust me, I've been there and seen it myself, lol). I didn't play the whole song because the rest of the song is just the same thing as my video for Mike's part that I uploaded a long time ago.

@ntheelz In terms of how it sounds, that's pretty much what the technique is, I just try to refrain from using the "palm-muted" term for it, as that traditionally only refers to muting executed with your strumming hand

@astatslpvids So they're powerchords, palm-muted with you fretting hand.

@elementbob He definitely turns it off for all the chord parts.

do you think brad flips the sustainer on and off during the song or does he leave it on the whole time????

How do you do 7x9 without making any harmonics in lowest E string?

HokageNarutoman

do you have sustainer bulit, if not how would you play this song?

astatslpvids

Nope. He uses a guitar equipped with a Fernandes Sustainer to recreate the EBow parts.

Don't lift up with your index finger for the muted strums, keep fretting the 2nd fret powerchord and then lay your other 3 fingers across the strings to deaden the sound. That's why the muted strums in this song still have a defined pitch to them. Other than that, try not to hit the high B and E strings when you're strumming, that's where the squeaky noises are probably coming from.

ow do u do the muted bits before the heavy intro without it makin any extra noises cause when i do it it always makes a squeaky noise and it sounds awful

I seriously can't recall seeing James alternate strum anything...ever, lol. His forearm muscles have to be made of steel.

me too LOL that song really kills my arm but i think Blackened is even worse

I don't know too many people who can downstrum all of Master of Puppets other than James Hetfield, I think Kirk even cheats and alternate picks some of it when they play live. I run out of steam by the first chorus if I try to do it all with downstrokes.

surely brad (and mike) know how to play MoP, probably brad would not play it downpicked at all since he tends to alt-strum almost everything, wes is skilled and creative but he plays MoP mainly alternate picking too, which is much more easier but incorrect
