Linkin Park - One Step Closer (2007 live version) (Mike's part) video free download

I got a few requests for this one, so here it is. For those of you that don't know, since the start of the Minutes to Midnight touring cycle, Mike has been playing guitar on One Step Closer live. Mostly he just doubles Brad in places to give the song a heavier feel (and also sound closer to the multiple overdubbed guitar tracks on the album version), with one exception: whenever One Step Closer opens the show or is the first song after the encore, they add a new intro to it which has 2 different guitar parts. Brad just loops the intro a few times, but Mike's part is different, he plays an open Db5 powerchord 2 times at the start of every bar, and every fourth bar, he does a muted strum followed by a 5x7 octave. This is still in Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb tuning by the way.

Wouldn't really make sense for him to have to take another guitar on tour to play one song, since Don't Stay's in a different tuning, for a song that doesn't really need a second guitar part anyway. If One Step Closer wasn't in LP's typical tuning, I really doubt Mike would've even considered it. Plus I think he just started doing it because the '07 live intro needed 2 guitar parts.14 years ago
