Guitar tabs for the live version of Given Up can be downloaded here: http://lplive.net/astat/Guitar_tabs/Live/Minutes_to_Midnight_Live/

DADGBE tuning, this one's a bit funky. I'm actually playing to the studio version here, but I add in some of the random stuff Brad and/or Mike did during this song on Projekt Revolution. After they had played this song live for a while, either Brad or Mike started messing around by playing little octave parts during the verses. Also, at the Noblesville 2007 show, Brad threw in a pretty tasty solo lick right before the second chorus. I basically just took some of these extra parts and combined them into one video for fun. I played the bent note in the bridge as just a single note instead of an octave, because even though Brad frets it as an octave, the higher note is almost always the only one that's actually heard live. I'm obviously not sure how the solo lick was really played, I just picked out the notes that I could and made up something that sounded good to me.

Another thing with this video, a lot of people have commented that I always look bored and don't get into it when I'm playing, so I did that a bit here.

It's one of the concerts you can buy from the Downloads section on LP's website for like 10 bucks...you might be able to find a torrent of it somewhere too.

Hey Anthony, do you have any clue on how could I find a recording of Given Up from that Noblesville concert?

It's a pick slide, you pretty much just turn your pick sideways and slide the edge of it down one of the lower strings (works best on the low E and A since the "scraping" sound comes from the pick running over the ridges in the string winding).

Hey man, great job as always. I wanna ask you about that thing they started to play, if I'm not wrong, in the A Thousand Suns tour, that comes in right before the second chorus of this song. I think it's a slide or something but I don't know where or how I should play that exactly, so tell me what you think about that please. Peace.

Hi Anthony! Explain me something please. When you play "Faint" Are you sure you Play like you do in your tab? Because it is imposible to play on Ab Db Gb Bb strikethrough. The sound is very bad as I slide the fifth to the twelfth box. it's the same with the solo "buring in the skies" and "Papercut" ... Answer me quickly Sincerely, Robin

@04GUITARPLAYER04 Most of the other Drop D songs are all played on Fender Stratocasters - totally different tone. Given Up isn't the only one though, Wretches and Kings and Waiting For the End are also in Drop D and played on a PRS instead of a Strat.
