i don't know if someone already noticed it, but this is an early version of Fountain of Salmacis and not Looking for Someone... or something mixed between the two...

Yes, I think that The Ant is one of the most talented musicians but his shyness might have worked against him in receiving all the credit that he actually deserves.

'The Movement' is where I believe they extracted these 2 combined parcels of music from. They used bits and pieces from the 1969 45 minute track for years. I've been wanting to hear it forever myself! They had written lots of other material besides 'The Movement' as well, which they never bothered to record. That's a shame!

John Mayhew joined Genesis in the summer of '69. They obviously wrote this material shortly thereafter his joining the band. But you're right in that they decided to split the tracks and write a different beginning for 'Looking For Someone' and use the 'Salmacis' intro for other material which subsequently was reserved for 'Nursery Crime'. Remember they had TONS of musical ideas hitting them at this time. Ant Phillips had much to do with the writing of 'Salmacis & "Musical Box' for 'NC'
