K Kirkland, I agree with you but you got your information wrong about who Diana Ross was having sex with. His name was Berry Gordy, not Barry White LOL. RIP Barry White and Florence Ballard. I'm in love with Florence because I love lightskin black women and she was beautiful. I wish I could've been her husband but I'm too young for her LOL. She died the year I was born.

WOOOOOW! What an amazing voice! Florence Ballard could've easily been a very successful solo star! Gone too soon.

good stuff

What people fail to realize is that, that time frame mid 50's early 70's it was based off pure talent... You could be so talented that records wouldn't sell as expected... Florence Ballard wasn't a heavy set woman or in that kind of nature... Her voice was so strong and powerful that they would have to keep doing takes after takes because she would over sing them... So to get the sells and more money is to sleep with the CEO and cross over crowds... Put the black girl from the projects that is dingy and wants to be white in front to get the money... So Diana Ross was the better fit because of her body shape and her fake ass ways... It was more business and pleasure... Florence could have did her own thing because Diana really can't sing at all... So they went commercial... Now we talking big money... Because they sold out... They lost their black audience... The marvelettes were pose to be the spot light til they made Diana Ross the front woman of the spot light... Florence was made I would be too if I was promised this that and the third and don't get it... So she became distant... Then getting raped by someone out of Motown... Fucked her up mentally and emotionally... She wouldn't talk come to rehearsal even come outside... She became depressed and a heavy drinker... If u ask me it was set up to get Florence out the picture... All business ain't good business

Diana was right for the lead...I listened to many of Flo's songs and she wasn't right for the lead...sorry..sometimes the truth hurts.

I loved the Supremes as a whole - and wish Flo and Mary were heard more, at least in tight 3-part harmony with Diane (her real and not diva name). Flo does not have a pleasing voice and it sounds untrained. She's "pitchy" at times - flat or sharp - and her phrasing is weak. It's hard for me to say this: Diane was right for the lead.

Respect If it wasn't for Florence ballard there would not have been the Primettes which would later be the Supremes. The manager of the Primes told Florence to find a few girls for her group because of her voice she told Mary and Mary told Diane about the group that's when she auditioned.

Can you imagine THIS being released by the Supremes? Sorry, but Flo seems to have been just a very arrogant, aggresive, extremely temperamental, confrontational, rude person. She may have had other issues that went along with or may have contributed to her attitude and demeanor...but the bottom line is....her voice was mediocre. It was not "star" quality. The difference between Diana and Flo and Mary is that Diana had dreams, goals, imagination, drive. Mary & Flo shouda been honing their skills, working on their choreography, instead of "hatin'" on Diana, getting drunk and screwing zeroes.

Berry made the right decision going with Diana. Flo was a better singer but nothing that woulda stood out....with Flo as lead, the Supremes would NEVER had made it to Stardome. No Way !!! Florence's voice and delivery was very common...mediocre.

A tremendous talent, but she found herself in a group with Diana Ross, the Mozart of Motown. Some people are geniuses, and she falls just a little short. I might have gone around the bend in a similar situation.

The only singer able to get away with this type of performance, calling it artistry, is the great Billie Holiday in her final years. Come on - this is NOT a great singer's recorded performance - this is amateurish at best. You folks really need to stop with the bull shit - she just didn't have it, and you know it.

This song sounds incredible, though the background music reminds me of Linda Jones "I Who Have Nothing." All in all, a well put together video and song all wrapped up in one!

Imagine if she tried out for American Idol the Voice, I could see the judges expressions. Paula Abdul ..you look beautiful, Randy, yo dawg, that wasn't good..Simon..what was that? your not serious are you? audience..silence...

I think it's the producer/arranger that makes this questionable, it's very uneven.

This performance is actually very soulful and painful. You can feel every note she sings. I really enjoyed it.
