Just remember guys, this song wouldn't exist without King Crimson. Cynic's Focus was a masterpiece of progressive music, and should be regarded as a staple for heavy metal, but it only expands upon the work done before it. Not really new ground, familiar ground that has soul and craftsmanship poured into it. All of their mental and emotional inspiration, these musicians put life into music. The entire focus of life, displayed in a musical form. Technically, you may think it isn't entirely original, but it actually is. Fretless bass in metal, plus Chapman Stick. Jazz fusion mixed in for extra touches, chord progressions that are as if they would be heard in choir-like classical pieces. It sounds beautiful. They turned technicality into beauty. A masterpiece that will never be replaced, and one of the most inventive records I've ever heard. Cynic's Focus.

Maybe it's been talked about before, but does anyone else think the beginning of this song totally sounds like Animals As Leaders? Obviously, I'm aware this came quite a bit earlier.

Looks like an orange Scyther on the cover to me.

I generally hate 'tech' metal - however, Cynic rules, particularly this track. It is certainly a showpiece of skill, yet never does it delve into the abyss of wankery. Praise Cynic - (and Death 'Human' - THE best 3rd wave DM album).
