Bought this LP when I 1st heard it playing at a record shop. Loved it, thought it would be a huge success. Still don't understand why it wasn't. Catchy lyrics, nice riffs, great music. Oh well...maybe it was a little ahead of its time.I would still include "Drive On" in my list of Top 100 Rock Albums of all time.I know it's a bold statement but I love this album that much.

They weren't good as MTH but they were still very good. They didn't get the credit and recognition that they deserved.

I used to have both of the Mott's albums and rock out to both of them in high school

As a big fan of original Mott the Hoople I was disappointed with Drive on and Shouting Pointing. Critics hated them too. Listening to these songs years later on Youtube they sound much better. Still far inferior to classic Mott Hoople but by typical big hair 80's 90's band standards pretty good stuff. Good hooks and quirky lyrics. As a standalone band without comparison to what came before (different group basically) would have had more critical respect.

@TheDGENTLY No. Nigel Benjamin was the lead vocalist on Mott's only two albums.

Thanks for this post. Is there a song called "I'll tell you something" on the lp? Haven't heard it in forever. Love it. If you can post it I'd be one happy camper. Cheers
