Now this is a bit more like it. I suffer from the "more distortion is good" disease sometimes, and my first attempt was another fine example of that malady in action.

Hopefully, this meets with your approval. Thanks for your patience and your understanding. I can honestly say I've never had to try harder and do more takes to make the guitars sound more plain. All this modern recording stuff makes it hard to sound a bit more old school. Less is more.

@AWSH17 I have no idea if it's perfectly the same as what's on the record, as it's hard to hear, but it's two parts split into the left and right channels respectively. One is just playing root-5 diads on the 1st and 2nd string (E and B) on the "ands" of the 4 count, starting on the 9th fret 8x, then the 12th fret 8x, then 9th fret 8x 12th fret 4x and 14th fret 4x. The other guitar is playing the F#m triad on the 2nd fret, then a Gma7b5, back to F#m and Gma7b5 and then the A5. Good luck!

all your covers are brilliant. You're an intelligent guitarist with the 12 Ric string being more demensional than the usual janglers. Look forward to hearing more

Bottom line, you are a good man Joshua, and you do good work. I really enjoyed all of these.

I have seen almost all of those actually. XTC covers are so hard to find any time a new one pops up i usually get excited. I had a feeling when i wrote that list that a lot of those are undoable, but they are all still so good.

And finally, if you're interested in learning some drum parts for XTC songs, look no further than KookyMiss2, who is becoming quite a skin basher. Pester her, too. :)

Well, bear in mind that I do not use any kind of keyboard/synth for my recording, so that does somewhat limit the song list. There are still lots of tunes I can do, though. If you are looking for other quality XTC covers, I can direct you towards backinnyc, who actually can play some keyboards and sing (two skills I do not possess). Another Tuber called terminalmf does a smashing good tutorial of Scarecrow People, best I've heard on YT yet. Give him some requests. He needs to do more XTC.

I actually really like all your videos, I am going to subscribe now. Believe it or not, i figured out a bulk of the song using this version without the singers. Your Sgt. Rock video also helped quite a bit. Not that you need my recommendation, but i would love to hear Helicopter, Outside World, 1000 umbrellas, Living Through Another Cuba, Your Dictionary, Scarecrow People...oh to hell with it this list is getting to long, any XTC or dukes song would be amazing. Keep it up, I'm gonna subscribe.

I was beginning to think that no one liked this one, so thanks for that. :)

XTC is easily one of my all time favorite bands. However, I hate that having only been playing instruments for 3.5 years or so I get the feeling of "Oh yeah, I can figure this out easy!" and then trying and failing horribly. This song and "Outside World" are two that i remember vividly racking my brain over and still never fully getting. You on the other hand, you just make me jealous. So very very jealous.
