This is my cover of XTC's Sgt. Rock (Is Going To Help Me). It is on the Black Sea album and despite what Andy and Co. say about it, I absolutely love this song. It's a fun song to listen to and to play, and I love all those 60's fuzzy guitars that Dave G. sprinkles over the chorus. I even attempted to somewhat emulate the monophonic synth they put over the middle eight, and the Line6 effects work nicely if I may say so.

This song is a bit of a tribute to KookyMiss2, another YouTuber who went from making silly sock puppet videos to some rather nice XTC drum covers. She did a cover of this song, and I would like her to keep doing those XTC (or other) drum covers. Keep it up, Miss!

It always amazes me that Andy finds this song cringeworthy - it's a perfectly crafted pop song! Astonishingly accurate interpretation, the hat is off!

I've done this and other XTC at karaoke, actually:) Love it; (especially the kazoo) keep up the good work.

The XTC fansite has a lot of tabs on them. I don't use them, but I contributed the Rocket From A Bottle solo on it, and I just figured out the solo for Extrovert so I will probably put it up there as well. That site has links to other places as well, maybe they have some tabs. I don't smerk tabs. It's much better for you if you don't use them unless you're REALLY stuck. It's better ear training if you just plug away.

Anyway, I love finding new XTC so this was pretty exciting - and definitely karaoke-able...so that's great! I wish I had the time to develop and follow through with all my XTC/youtube related plans...this might be the thing to inspire me and get me moving again though; got a few on the horizon that could be pretty fun (and that's what it's all about really). Again, thanks for this stuff and all the great work!

Thank you sir! I don't think anything of mine has ever been called that before :-) I appreciate the sentiment, but (and I say this without even a hint of bitterness) clearly your stuff surpasses mine on so many levels! I'm astounded by your ability to pick apart a song and the playing and production is perfect.

Hahahah! Karaoke for XTC. I bet if Andy even caught wind of such a thing he'd temporarily suspend his pacifism and punch us all in the gob. Glad you find it enjoyable. :)

That is a good one, too. It's on my list, for sure. Thanks for the compliment!

Much appreciated, mate. I've listened to your stuff before; it's top notch, and you do a very good Partridge and Moulding. How did I do this? Well, one note at a time, sir. I listen to the instrumentation very closely when I listen to any song, but the damn singers tend to get in the way. :) Probably doesn't hurt that I've been playing for nigh on 30 years, too.

How did you do this...it's too close. I'm having trouble coping.

Brilliant down to last note! Please please please do another, possibly Burning with Optimism's Flame. I'd be more than happy to help!
