Well, ya know .. of course Steve Goodman wrote this song. What a gem he was and what a killing they made off of this song ! What were they, in the dull drums at the time and/or smoking too much pot and so needed a spark !? I am not putting them down, but damn !!!! You really need to go to a guy with wife and kids who is now dying of leukemia (Steve Goodman wrote City of New Orleans and sings it very nicely). He was a little short jewish guy always dying of leukemia .. but never let on.Steve sang more protest songs about the city of Chicago than I would have the balls to, outside of Mike Royko. Unfortunately, he did lose his battle in the end. Well, rumor has it that his ashes are somehow somewhere spread in Wrigley Field. I love both Willie and Arlo, but ... ? Really guys, you can't even pronounce Kankakee right ?
