Arlo Guthrie, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson and many more perform "This Land Is Your Land" at the finale of Farm Aid III held on September 19, 1987 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp founded Farm Aid in 1985 and serve on the board of directors. The three agreed that family farmers were in dire need of assistance and decided to plan a concert for America. Farm Aid III was held in Lincoln, Nebraska at Memorial Stadium.

Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's Board of Directors in 2001 to help further Farm Aid's mission of keeping family farmers on their land.

Have we become so polarized that a song about America sang at a benefit for farmers has a person calling another person a communist? And then suggesting that the author of the song should have gone to Canada or France. Tony I don't know where you got the idea that Woody Guthrie was a communist maybe you have some sort of divine infusion that others don't possess In any case I have some suggestions for you and one is pack your bags and move to a country that doesn't allow dissent. The other suggestions I'll keep to myself because you wouldn't understand them and they are very impolite.

Hey Tony, where did you hear about this song and communism, through the media!

Woody was legend but if he liked communism so much he should have moved to Canada or France.

and the political parties. and the union bosses and the regulators. everyone has to stop cheating and thinking their ideas are so right that they justify cheating, self-serving and other immoral tactics. i also disagree with Willie in his intro. There is a reason Woody used "my" and "your" and "you" and "me' and not "our". the freedom in his individual heart told him too. jmho
