Lyrics:

None of us will soon forget

The day before those things arrived.

In a churchyard on a hill,

A man had just buried his bride

She returned that day, alive.

There's a silhouette on the horizon

Like an evil stain on the rising sun.

And as it approached, we saw it was her.

And her eyes were red,

She said "You're all dead!",

Then collapsed down to the ground

As if somebody cut her strings.

Fear and anguish reign

Ever since they came.

We used to walk the streets of town

Now we know we never will again.

Suddenly over the hill

A dog lets out an anguished howl

There ain't a beast this side of Hell

That could've brought on what befell that hound.

He was torn from limb to limb.

There's an evil stench creeping on the wind.

Reeks of pestilence mixed with death and sin.

From over the range that is where we found

Scattered on the ground, fifty head of steer.

But what's real queer;

We searched all around

No other part was found!

Fear and anguish reign

Ever since they came.

We used to walk the streets of town

Now we know we never will again.

Some say from the skies they fell.

Others claim they came straight from hell.

Some swear they are from the dark,

Yet others they believe they came

From our angry hearts.

And tonight we ride

Out of desperation.

O'er the mountainside,

Towards the reservation.

See if they might know

How to stem the tide.

Yet when we arrived

They turn their heads,

And the chief said:

"Now you know how we felt

When the white man came!"

Fear and anguish reign

Ever since they came.

We used to walk the streets of town

Now we know we never will again.

I know that there really is no relationship between the two, but I can't help but think of The Evil Within when listening to this. :P

When I heard this song, I could not stop and listen to it 1000000 times, despite the fact that I hate country music. Voltaire, you're a magician!

This is arguably the creepiest song I've heard from you. It is a look back at some of the oldest forms of horror; it suggests, but doesn't reveal. Even better, it introduces us to the Black Swan Problem and Why It Sucks. ^^

Okay besides the part about the undead bride, this song totally sounds like racist southerners responding to black people in their town,

i heard about a certian voltaire song(dunno the name) about being on a ship that was going down or something and the captain of the ship asking the musicians(voltaires group i guess) for some uplifting music or something like that... anyone have any idea what that song is? its not "the ship is going down" cause i already checked that

Sir Voltaire, if I may, I would like to claim what I believe this song to be of. I believe that the monsters, the Fear and Anguish, et cetera that is mentioned in this song, represents the Evil within all humans that makes itself physical, and causes us all to blame each other, and also ridiculous sources for all foul things. Is there any validity to this belief?

Exactly! Well put, FaunaDragon! ; )

I think Voltaire didn't directly describe what 'monster' was in the song because he wanted us to use our imaginations. Some think zombies are attacking, some think it's the 4 horsemen, some think it's demons. He didn't describe what the thing was, so you all could be right, or you could be wrong. It could be the killer rabbit from Monty Python for all we know :P It's up to you to use your imagination!

He asked if the woman in the song had anything to do with the one being buried in 'The Churchyard'.
