Hard to believe they dropped "that's why I love you" in favor of this. I did not like Van Halen 3 at all. But That's Why I Love you would have made it a better album. I just can't understand how this was thought to be better.

I've been a fan of Van Halen since Day 1 back in the 1970s. And it is pieces like these that make Van Halen great. If a group over time (I mean, geeze, we're talking around 35 years), doesn't show changes and trying out different patterns and techniques and exploring their musical interests, then, frankly, they just get boring. Any "fan" who doesn't know that is either immature or ignorant. I'm just telling it like it is.

Even if Extreme had done this it would have been bigger. However, the folks that buy VH records simply weren't ready for this...and may never be. I sure as hell am not...this is NOT Van Halen IMHO. And I must disagree with you on this song "beating" Hot For Teacher or Ice Cream man...because those songs are QUINTESSENTIAL Van Halen, and a perfect example of where their strength lies as a group. If Ed wants to do touchy-feely songs like this, great...but he'll continue to alienate fans.
