TOMMY REILLY

THIS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED PERFORMANCE IS WHERE TOMMY'S SUCCESS IN THE ORANGE UNSIGNED ACT COMPETITION BEGAN.

Tommy Reilly travelled all the way down from Glasgow to the open auditions and performed his track "Gimme a Call" in front of our judges Jo Whiley and James Oldham.

At first it looked like Tommy would be making the long trip back up to Scotland without a smile on his face, as Jo thought he wasn't ready, but as soon as Tommy left Jo realised she'd made a mistake and said he was the best she'd heard all day.

Young Tommy was immediately called back and given a place at the main auditions - and thus far remains a strong contender in the competition along with the four other remaining acts.

If that put him off then he would never be fit for singing in front of a live audience. Doing a performance means not letting anything distract you. He is passionate nothing will get in its way, nothing at all, that is why he is great.

I think he'd better with a bass instead of a regular guitar, or atleast an octave pedal so during verses he could take his sound down in pitch a bit more, as right now he's stuck on the 6th string for the whole time it seems.

I remember watching this series and I still think this was one his best performances, and this is saying something because Tommy's an exceptional live act. This performance just epitomizes what Tommy's all about, incredibly raw and heart-felt. When you first hear it, you are not sure if he is appalling or brilliant but the songs stay with you and draws you back for more.
