They don't make anything remotely like this nowadays, and I reckon they never will again. Let these songs be our one and only means of going back to a time when things were simpler, more spirited and innocent, and above all, decent. What's wrong with the world, I don't know, but why people accept it is beyond my understanding and will be something I never will either...

Phenomenal, one of the greatest groups of all time! What a blend! Each voice is tops! Up there with the Platters, Five Satins, Ink Spots, better than the Duprees and The Diamonds. They were indeed unrated. As great as Lee Andrews and the Hearts were, The Rivieras were a higher quality quartet. I know many of their hits. Thank you for posting. There should be hundreds of thousands of views on every one.

Dear Mr. Cook......Can you please clear something up for me? I always thought thatRoland Cook, your father, was the lead tenor on most of their records. Am I correct?Thank you very much. They were the best! Period!

Dan,you replied like a gentleman and I was hoping that this wasn't another "Whitey caused the problem" I hear that to much. The truth is in the music business which I was in for 15 years after my military career gave me insight how groups and hits were made. Much of it was connections ie. America Bandstand. As far as race relations, there has been improvement but minorities are equally predjudice too -- integration and Naturalization is fine as long as it's without intimidation. Get the point

Ron, thanks for your comments. I am white, so no race card intended. Yes, perhaps poor management and promotion is the cause of some groups and singers not getting the play needed to become major stars, and yes, many broke through the ranks. It is true that minorities had a more difficult time getting their music played on "white" radio stations. It appears we have grown much since that time and the playing field has been leveled. Race relations have come a long way since the 1950s. Dan

Daniel, the Rivieras were all hispanic and please don't use the race card. The reason many groups of every race, nationality or creed weren't as successful as other groups is because that era was prime for Vocal Groups--there were thousands, so the competition was strong. If, as you claim, race had something to do with it then how is it that many of the top groups and singers were minorities. It was merely competition and management. Stop the race card BS.
