My favorite Marvelettes tune ("Don't Mess With Bill" is a close second), this record has everything:Compositional intelligence, a great arrangement highlighting a dark funkiness, Motown's flawless production, the Marvelettes' flawless performance, and THE FUNK BROS.

What's all this? It was not a rivalry? Why do artists have to be against one another? They were all great in the own right! So what it's in the Motown story line. People have their own mind on what they believe is great and talented they learn from one another. I read Mary Wilson's Autobiography. I have no doubt the Motown's history online was written like that to prevent lawsuits.

leave the Supremes for dead? Put down the crack Pipe. The Supremes to day is the Most successful female group with their Lead singer Diana Ross still selling out. The Marvelettes died in 1963 when Martha and the Vandellas kicked their asses with Heat Wave QuickSand and Dancing in the Street. and the Supremes smashed the Vandellas with five No.1 POP not R&B which Dont count as much as the Pop chart. Pick up a book and Read its all in the Motown history online.

What a great song. Smokey Robinson written all over it. Thank you for posting this. I grew up listening to only Motown artists. My two spinster aunts bought every new 45 as soon as it became available and the Marvelettes were very special to all of us five women in that household: me, my aunts, grandmother and cousin!! RIP Aunt Nancy, hope you can hear this in heaven. I miss Friday night sing outs.

Hi,jazzynet1,there were 5 0riginal Marvelettes..Led by Gladys Horton, backed up by Katherine Anderson,Georgeanna Tillman,Juanita Cowart and Wanda Young.I believe they used to swap lead singers depending on the song. You can see all 5 girls on the cover of their PLAYBOY LP.The greatest girl group ever.Leaves The Supremes for dead.
