The reason there are fake groups is because smaller venues can't afford the real ones. I tried to hire the Drifters (real) and they wanted $15k for one show and wanted airfare on top, fake imposters only wanted $4k and no airfare/ my people had agreat time a no complaints. I made my $4k back plus $4k profit to pay my workers and booze bill.Maybe they should sell a license (the groups) to use the name (1 time for their show) say $500 for 1 time show license that way they made money.

Now that Gladys is gone, it's all the more the shame she spent so much of her sunset years fighting Marshak and his phony groups just trying to be able to work, when she should have been basking in glory and gratitude for all she and the other REAL Marvelettes gave us. You can't help but conclude that Berry Gordy really didn't understand that Diane wasn't the only one we worshiped, but that we loved the rest of the Motown family as well.

@TWTR4EVER, I concur with you. I feel Gordy, did the Funk Brother horribly wrong. They were Motown. All the music was made by them and he just left without telling them. And who knows what and how they were paid. So sad, yes he does have to give an account for that one to his maker. Karma!
