Can't believe that the Kinks were commercially unsuccessful, back in the day. The Kinks should have been on the same level as the Beatles, in terms of popularity. Does anybody know why the Kinks sold very few copies back in the day?

The Who and The Kinks. Two bands that are largely underrated nowadays! Seriously, once you start listening to their other work, it's fantastic. I'd take them over Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin any day!

CoolPomegranate : Thanks for uploading this. Arthur is one of my favorite albums that came out in the late sixties. The whole album is fantastic. Ray Davies has written some of the most poignant songs of all time. Some Mothers Son has to be one of the greatest antiwar songs ever written. Dave Davies is one of the most underrated guitarists. Long live the Kinks. I saw them in concert in the fall of 1971 and besides their older material they did nearly the entire album of Arthur. Great show.

I LOVE the fact that, after Dave Davies' solo, Mr. Mick Avory's drums sound like bombs exploding all around. Guess what's is going into my auto's player today and staying for a long visit???!

The LP came out about the same time the movie, Support Your Local Sheriff, starring James Gardner, who was just stopping in town on his way to Australia. So, with the LP & the movie, many of us wanted to move to Australia. We played the LP at least 3 or 5 times a day for a very lonnng time and always told everyone we were on our way to the outback. Love the entire LP & have worn out a couple of vinyl copies back in the day. I, too, can never get enough this album & Ray & Dave Davies, too. Done.

@guitarheroRP True, but think how blessed we are because we have recognized their greatness and the tons of enjoyment we get each time we listen to them. The lyrics and music has depth and never gets tiring, like other great groups. That's why the Kinks will live forever because they discovered a new branch of genius in the music they produced.
