Best concerts I've ever attended remain, to this day, String Band shows. Dancing in the aisle at Avery Fisher Hall and The Bottom Line in NYC. Good times....Likki was my sister-in-law for a while back in the late 70's. lol My brother and Robbie sayed good friends for a long time afterwards.

Oh, Likky, Likky - 'first girl I loved...' etc, though not literally in this case, obviously (more's the pity), but the feeling was/is there. Rose is playing a mandola, I believe.

Say what you will about their performances, they are completely unpretentious and uninhibited. It works, and their instrumentation choices are unique and ingenious. The strong use of the electric bass together with mandolin and fiddle amazes me how good it sounds. I'm becoming more of a mandolin fan thanks to these artists. I may just take it up myself!

Licorice is so cute dancing in this! And it's funny how suddenly she's up and dancing. :)

cheif o`neil`s jig. [1st one ] i think it took a while before irish tradd. [like other roots music] got the popularity it has now. it would have been hard to find [ 1970 ] very many serious players.

Excellent thanks for posting this great video, takes me back to early summer mornings in a land long lost, the taste of existence on our lips and the slitheringly ecstatic morning dew.....nice one :-)

Fun to find this. Nothing beat a String Band concert. Wish the jig medley from The Bottom Line in NYC was available. ...Btw, Likki was my sister-in-law. lol!
