Have you noticed how slowly they sing this, by comparison to the tempo most ballad singers do it nowadays? (i.e. too fast) It's one thing to sing a song, it's another thing entirely to do what Luke Kelly did: he painted a picture of a seaman's life and took you on a guided tour of the Liverpool Docks and streets. THAT ability is what set him apart from all others.
