Have you noticed how slowly they sing this, by comparison to the tempo most ballad singers do it nowadays? (i.e. too fast) It's one thing to sing a song, it's another thing entirely to do what Luke Kelly did: he painted a picture of a seaman's life and took you on a guided tour of the Liverpool Docks and streets. THAT ability is what set him apart from all others.

Thanks for this ,have the L.P. on vinyl,was at the Albert Hall with my girlfriend when this was recorded, asked her to marry me on the way home, we have now now been wed 45 years this july.
