The Byrds pay their respects to the late John F Kennedy; sounds very much like Simon and Garfunkel's hit

Came here after watching Oliver Stone/Kevin Costner's JFK. This song is a perfect encore to the movie. To think that it would have been a different world had Kennedy was not killed by so many different entities..........

I find this to be very similar to Simon and Garfunkel's "He Was My Brother"

It's almost hard to believe JFK's been gone for 50 years.I was only 4 and too young to remember the horrible tragedy.Although I never met or knew the 35th President of the United Statesin person, but I felt as if I did.My flag is at half-staff in this solemn observance.R.I.P., President Kennedy. Even 50 years later, the nation still misses you. :'(

This is NOT an alternate version of the song from their first CD. It's a re-recording that McGuuinn, Crosby and Hillman recorded for their first box set, "The Byrds." McGuinn plays his Rickenbacker 12-string, and Hillman plays his bass, while McGuinn, Crosby and Hillman all sing. Sadly, this box set is no longer available.

Even in Holland [ the netherlands] we believed in JFK as a man who could change the world just as we believed few years later the same in his brother. The killing both of them great inspiring peole with magic around their . The killing of both kenedy's has changed the world forever. Everthing in this great song from one of the greatest bands does a remenising to that time. But lads, just what they later sang: "The times they are chancing ".

The ache in Croby's harmony is palpable in this version. Precious time, indeed. The cons cry about their " heroes" being lambasted in the press, but they kill ours in cold blood.

In 1960 the US looked forward to a bright and hopeful future. John Kennedy was the guiding light, even putting the wheels in motion for a man on the moon by 1969. Novemer 1963 changed all that forever. Lyndon Johnson only made Viet Nam worse and when Bobby Kennedy tried to change things in 1968 he too was gunned down and the USA's bright future of 1960 became dark and miserable. The Kennedy's were the USA's hope for a brighter tomorrow - several gun shots turned out the lights.
