TEXAN LOVE SONG

Elton John

Don't Shoot Me (I'm Only The Piano Player) (1973)

I heard from a friend you'd been messing around

With a cute little thing I'd been dating uptown

Well I don't know if I like that idea much

Well you'd better stay clear I might start acting rough

You out of town guys sure think you're real keen

Think all of us boys here are homespun and green

But that's wrong my friend so get this through your head

We're tough and we're Texan with necks good and red

So it's Ki yi yippie yi yi

You long hairs are sure gonna die

Our American home was clean till you came

And kids still respected the president's name

And the eagle still flew in the sky

Hearts filled with national pride

Then you came along with your drug-crazy songs

Goddamit you're all gonna die

How dare you sit there and drink all our beer

Oh it's made for us workers who sweat spit and swear

The minds of our daughters are poisoned by you

With your communistic politics and them negro blues

Well I'm gonna quit talking and take action now

Run all of you fairies clean out of this town

Oh I'm dog tired of watching you mess up our lives

Spending the summertime naturally high

Diversity is a just a code word for less White People. Nobody says an Asian country that is virtually 100% Asian needs more diversity. Nobody says an African country that is almost all Black needs more diversity. Anti-Whites claim “anti-racism” but ONLY demand diversity for White countries. They say it’s Africa for the Africans, Asia for the Asians, but White countries for EVERYBODY.They say they are anti-racist. What they are is anti-White.Anti-racist is a code word for anti-White.

@Rich How - Actually, Bernie was very very interested in the American culture. It wasn't so much that Elton wanted to appeal to the American market. If you listen to "Indian Sunset," "Ballad of Danny Baily" and "Harmony," you'll see what Bernie was interested in. Imagine being a young, British poet with a penchant for American history. Bernie was a poet to begin with, not a 'lyricist'. It almost seemed like Bernie was born on the wrong side of the pond this lifetime. Maybe he used to be an American in another life. :) Anyway, this just came natural to Bernie.

This song is pure genius, and of course it is a parody, ridiculing the extremely harmful element in America that embarrasses us when the rest of the world sees it.

as a young transplanted yankee in the south as a 14 yr old. in 1973 this kinda scared me, since it was "tongue in cheek" but the rednecks all around me loved this song. and no one liked men with long hair group them all together and stereotyped them. now.. this song may be re vived by the tea party..

Real talents can write in many genres, like the Stones and Beatles, EJ wrote ballads, country, jazz, rock, etc. Just an amazing ear and feel. Genius.

It was 1972/1973 and this country was reeling from lots of crap and Mr. Bush was snorting coke and trying to get out of the Texas National Guard. This was a song speaking to the redneck contingent of America 40 years ago.

Great song and proven prophetic about the commies taking over the west with thier vile poison. Just have a look around you now and see the mess they made; with worse to come. God love America! Not the marxist leaders.
