This is one of the best kits I have ever heard. Tama Starclassic Bubinga are my favorite kits in the world. Doesn’t matter if it’s the regular starclassic Bubinga, starclassic Bubinga select, starclassic Bubinga elite, they all look and sound like pure heaven. I have a tama starclassic Hyperdrive 5 piece kit and it sounds just as good but with a tad bit more highs due to the outer plies of birch but u can definitly feel and hear the inner plies of Bubinga and it is the best for the Starclassic Bb price point u can’t beat that kit. And plus they brought down the new updated hardware from the flagship star drums like the quick lock rack Tom brackets, quick lock and air cushioned floor Tom legs, and the new swivel wing mounting system which is the best most comfortable versatile bass drum mounting system EVERRR. Tama makes the best drums, hardware, thrones, chain pedals, accessories in the world. Doesn’t matter which price range. Imperial star, silver star, superstsr custom hyperdrive birch or maple, or superstar classics maple, starclassic maple, BB, or full Bubinga, and the star drums Bubinga, walnut, maple. All the best in their class. But Starclassics shine to my ears.

Sorry.....but I'll take Starclassic Bubinga over the Star series. For the same price as a Star shell pack you can get a kit, an entire setup including cymbals within reason. But for most of us we already have hardware and cymbals which makes the Starclassic an even better value over the Star. That kick drum is KILLER!!!

Really great sounding kit. I have played on it a few times. I couldn't concider getting this kit, as it's heavy as hell, and have back issues. It makes me wonder a bit. Why haven't I heard of anyone endorsed by Tama using this wood?

For all those complaining about the tuning of the toms, well you are wrong, the 8x7 is at A, the 10x8 at E flat, the 12x9 at C and the 14x12 at A of the lower octave, so that is a pretty normal tuning in my book, it' s not too high, not too low, and for a kit with three rack toms its quite fine because it covers all the octave from A to A and also an 8x7 tom is meant to be tuned high!!. So suming up stop talking about what you don't know please and learn to fine tune a drum for REAL!!

This set's sizes are: 8x8, 10x9, 12x10, 14x14, 16x16.....NOT 8x7, 10x8, 12x9 etc....

@Alex GrachekTama Starclassic would be better suited for metal in my opinion.

Which would be better for playing rock and metal? A Tama Starclassic Bubinga or a DW Collectors Series?

Tuning is too high. Tune it deeper and you will enjoy it much more than here in this high pitched tom modus operandi I have one in Japan made  Kit in Heknic Iron...only 5 for Germany. It sounds far better than my previous DW Collectors , Premier Genista, Pearl SBX, Pearl SMX, Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute and the boring sounding Sonor Delite.Alll are great kits, but the Bubinga Select made in Japan is far superior,

The reso&bass heads are stock and it sounds like the batters are too. Put some J1 batters and hazy 200 resos on....Will sound amazingly better. Instead of acting like a drum master ill just say bubinga reminds me of maple only evolved and upgraded. Kinda like cheap vodka to expensive vodka, same shit, one just tastes and feels a whole lot better.

Holy shit christ I love the finish on this kit, next to my Silverstar LE natural finish this has gotta be the best finish I've ever seen on a kit, reminds me of the Ludwig Oyster finishes!!!
