This is real mid 90's emo music. Lyrics are there. The frontman for this band actually used falsetto in his songs. And that is the earliest known usage of the characteristic high pitch tenor vocals used by many emo bands thereafter. Sure one could argue that this isn't emo as bands such as this back in the mid 90's were still rejecting this term, but nonetheless the term still applies to them. Any bands predecessor to this band can be labeled as alternative punk. Like Rites of Spring, Jawbreaker, and Embrace as they intended. Emo back in the 90's was considered a subculture amongst the fans and the bands, with that in mind we can add the fashion aspects of 2000's era emo as part of the subculture. Demonizing the name, the history, and fans of the third wave do nothing good for this great genre.
