You can thank this band and all of it various imitators for castrating rock n' roll. With this band's limited success, but far reaching legacy and influence, the pussification of America commenced in full. Pantera, for a brief moment, nearly restored the danger, power, aggression and overall testosterone to rock n roll that was becoming increasingly absent. Alas, even that band's success on a mainstream level was far too short lived to make a lasting difference. Shopping mall "emo" as we know and hate it started here. This is where rock, in all its harshest variants (punk, hardcore, metal, etc.) lost ALL of its intimidatation factor.8 years ago

This was the song that gave me a whole new outlook on the emo genre and music itself. Today, there's a massive stigma telling someone one of your favourite music genres is "emo" because they'll immediately associate it with the fad of 'emo hair/clothes/makeup' and the Screamo/alt metal heard today. But this song truly captures the genre; if it was condensed in to one song, it'd be this, that's how important this song and their album Diary is. It's a shame people don't appreciate the emo genre for what it actually is, bands like Sunny Day, American Football, Lifetime have influenced several bands over the years and it's sad how they don't get the recognition they deserve.9 years ago

THIS BAND is one of my personal favorite bands of ALL TIME. When I first started to listen to my music and found out who I was through that music (I am speaking of emo, of course) my older brother turned me onto sunny day real estate. One of the emo forefathers, this band hit the scene belting their hearts out with sounds and chords not yet k own at that time and lyrics that were honest and open giving you a clear view into their minds. sunny day real estate is definitely a bend you have to respect.9 years ago
