Dude, you're all a bunch of morons if you think this isn't emo music. This is what emo is supposed to be, emotional lyrics with a grunge rock groove. Black veil brides, that's not emo. That's poser trash. None of the alternative rock bands out now, that I've heard are emo anymore because of the misinterpretation and misconception of the word. Those of you who are here because of a tv show, and not because you like the genre, drink bleach. There's a certain degree of individuality that derives from choosing what genres you like by yourself instead of listening to something because you heard it somewhere, so before you call me a "hipster" just know, you've got no true expression of self, or reflection for that matter. It doesn't matter how you look when you play music and follow a genre. Emo music isn't about painting your nails and wearing eyeliner, or harming yourself even. Just like punk rock isn't about your chucks, your hair dye, or how much you don't like your parents. Get right. Stop being fools.

Emo was considered to have started with the band Embrace from DC, fronted by Ian Mackaye, the former singer of Minor Threat who also accidentally and unwillingly created the straight edge movement with that band. Many of what would be considered first wave emo bands had records out on Mackaye's still running label Dischord Records. Though the sound has changed with every generation, some of the staple emo/post-hardcore bands that were really considered the defining bands of the genre's sound include (but isn't limited too): Saves The Day, The Get Up Kids, Thursday, Lifetime, Knapsack, and earlier on Embrace, Rites of Spring and Mission of Burma maybe even. Meanwhile, you had Seattle going grunge and doing heroin (Hole, Nirvana etc), while everyone in Cali was doing speed and defining west coast pop-punk (Queers, Green Day, Screeching Weasel etc). Now everyone just seems to be confused about everything.

- Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that place turned you into an emo" That's ridiculous! I'm not anything. I don't fit in anywhere. I'm not emo, okay?"- ... Then why are you listening to Sunny Day Real Estate?

I'm not into modern emo that I know of... but I looked up emo anyway after seeing a video on Danger Dolan's channel of certain things banned.Nonetheless, it showed that it was done earlier than I thought... I took an interest to see what the earlier bands were like... didn't like the really early ones... but this one seems really good, but of course it does. Most 90's rock/metal bands I usually like.I think it's just the way it was done around that time... it just feels good.

*Indie Music Song of the Week*You would be hard pressed to find a band more loved and respected amongst the indie rockers of my generation than the incomparable Sunny Day Real Estate. We all died a little when frontman Jeremy Enigk went off and became a born again Christian.

Sunny Day Real Estate beats the Foo fighters any day. William has more emotion and has way better rhythm than Dave Grohl in my opinion. I'm betting Dave was jealous and that's why he re recorded the drum parts for the Foos second album. SDRE forever
