You are all wrong! The Boston Rag was an underground newspaper which was only in circulation for a couple years. Lonnie is not fictonal. He died from overdose at age of 22 and had wrote a column in that newspaper that usually had info on bands. He was also a dear friend of chevy chase. I have 3 issues of this newspaper, 1 of which has a write up about Steely Dan and how they acheived the name. RIP Lonnie Baker.

This may be The Dan's most underrated tune. Killer shit.

@jasonpp1973 - It was Jim and Jeff Porcaro on drums.

@beelzabubba I was too young to go to Rathskeller in the 70's, but heard a lot of second hand stories. My ex-wife didn't like Steely Dan- obviously I should never have married such a woman!

@cuvtixo the Rathskeller was in Kenmore Sq., you are correct. They had a lot of great bands play there when touring.

There's was a rock club in Boston called the Rathskeller, nicknames "The Ratt." Listening to the lyrics, the song is about this legendary club among others of the time, and the acts that performed there. Rathskeller was closed and demolished in 1997. When in Boston, because the audience knew of the reference, the band would always sing "Bring Back the Boston RATT!"

@jasonpp1973 pretty sure it's Jeff Porcaro too on drums...he seems louder in the mix than Hodder.
