His voice sounds fine actually. No ones perfect live, but to be even this close is talented. Also, for being in higher register, like most older music, is and was difficult for men to accomplish. Still the best galactic dewbie adventure song next to some.

About Dons voice well , many artists voice are not that great either at live concerts , however Steely Dans performance last Concert in Napier NZ , was Brillant fantastic outdoor venue . Yes his voice failed a few times due to the 63 concert and age . What a Tight orchestrated concert!!! What a Privilege . Reeling in the Years was the last song !! How Appropriate . Cheers to all !

@Asymmatrix fan? hell, im 18 & im huge fanatic of steely dan lol. theyre my absolute havorite band, im obsessed with them :) i just think that donalds voice in the 70s when they toured a bit was off tone a lot (i know there r exceptions), especially with this song. maybe it was because he had stage fright back then, i dunno. but the music is spectacular

donalds never been good at singing this song (except the album obviously), but these older versions sound unbelievable
