I love ST DAN and have done since I first heard them early 1970s and Still play their music all these years later. And I am a woman.Well I was the last time I looked JOKE. Seriously though they are SERIOUSLY GOOD.

tomgeorg1, you're obviously someone raised in the digital age who has never actually heard a real drum kit played in a small room or even a studio. I'd be interested to know what you consider a good drum sound....

Man, these guys sounded great live (no easy feat considering the complexity of their arraingments). When my kids rag on me about growing up in the Disco era, I always say "At least we had Steely Dan. What have you got that'll still sound good in 35 years?"

I just realized that I alluded to the impossibility of recreating the studio vocals in a live situation, which, obviously couldn't be done, unless you had a few more Fagens there to duplicate the multi-tracked vocals, and there's, ironically, a line saying, "sound just like a record on a phonograph"...and maybe that was supposed to resonate a little more due to the difficulty in mimicking the line, itself...or not, whatever...

I agree...still good, though...there's no way anybody could EVER reproduce how tight those vocals are on the studio version...probably the most precise, clean vocals I can think of by ANYBODY...but I love the rawness of this version, too, especially the whole band ripping it up at the end...it's too bad they waited so long to start touring on a regular basis, I'd love to have seen them with this incarnation and personnel, like Skunk, Diaz, Hodder, etc.

So much better then the album version the gutair sounds so blues, Michael and Fegan singing together sounds so much better; this is just simple beautiful.
