Hard to believe that in this recording she was a young girl of only 22. Yet her voice had the maturity of someone who had been singing opera for 10 or 20 years, with extravagant beauty and grace. Love her voice.10 years ago

Unfortunately people cannot hear tembra of voices of the old generation singers which is why many people think that Ponselle does not sound powerful, this is a big mistake. Try to record yourself on that old thing and see what will happen to your voice. And singing is not screaming, it has to be beautiful and should not hurt the ear! You got used to listen to a scream. Old singers sang everything without scream, and legato. I don't see anyone who can sing Norma today but a proper way!11 years ago

Yes, enough of that modern crap! It is disgusting how each is trying of invent something new when the old was perfectly done and does not need the new to interfere. If those modern guys wish to create their new genre, and if they are so talented why don't they invent their new operas and new modern style.
