Renaissance before Annie Haslam!

Back on again... in a better quality!... Enjoy! ;-)

Most of you are probably more familiar with the Renaissance group featuring Annie Haslam as main vocalist instead of the original line-up featuring Keith Relf and Jane Relf as front singers...

In between this transitional stage however, Renaissance had seen a succession of personnel and changes in style over a year or so!..

The line-up shown here, only knew a short existence from November till December 1970.

It consisted of:

Terry Crowe (lead vocals and backing vocals)

Binky Cullom (lead vocals and backing vocals)

Mike Dunford (guitar and backing vocals)

John Tout (keyboards)

Terry Slade (drums)

Neil Korner (bass guitar)

Both Jim and Terry have very distinct drumming styles, although they are both criminally underrated drummers. Jim swings the ending a little more, at least on the album.

I have loved all versions of Renaissance and Illusion since 1974 and I quickly became a fan of the whole back catalogue. If I had a daughter, I would have wanted her named Isadora.I was fortunate to meet John Tout, Annie, and Michael. Thank you Jim! This music is timeless.

I like this, but I enjoy the grainy B&W full version elsewhere in Jim's collection a little more. Binky dances like me, so that's all good. Was Mr Korner related to Alexis? Just an unusual surname; great he's still playing. What traumatic event stopped Mick Dunford touching an electric guitar for the next decade after this?

And sadly, now, Michael Dunford is gone. RIP Michael.

I know this is a little mean, but do you think Binky's dance move around 2:20 was inspired by Joe Cocker or inspired Elane from Seinfeld's hilarious dance moves. Either way, she is a pretty woman, but not a great dancer.

Woah!!! Someone gets the award for putting up some of the most obscure footage up on youtube. Where did you find this? The one that was here before looked like a 12th generation copy, but this looks like it was taken from the master. While I still think Binky sounded wrong for this band, I am still thankful this lost chapter in Renaissance is for all to see.

I love this "missing link" (not missing anymore) between the two incarnations of Renaissance, this is great!
