You must pay the price of hate and that price is your soul...

Peter Hammill (audio only) plays the song "The Emperor In His War Room" from the now seemingly unavailable solo album "The Peel Sessions", recorded live and solo 19th August 1974 for the BBC Radio One John Peel radio sessions - first broadcast 3rd September 1974 - added as a bonus track to the recently remastered album "In Camera".

I compiled the video montage myself utilising footage mostly downloaded from YouTube, with some of my own added effects and filters.

Please check out my other videos.

Comments are most welcome.

I recall recording this version on what I suppose must have been 19-08-74. My BSFA tape lasted a few years but eventually snapped. So I was delighted to find this and the other two tracks recorded that day on the remastered in camera. Great version with all the power of the original despite being a solo recording.

All my love TY for this Fave singer Saw him at the troubador in '76 his lyrics & emotion embodied my teen angst. Love Peter Forever! In '74, at 14, I probably would have killed to see n hear this.or crawled!

Yup this is the one the first Van Der Graaf Generator song i ever added to my collection. It is still my favorite song from them. After i finished a poem and am satisfied with it i end up listening to a gem like this and it makes me wanna stop writing. Hopefully one day i can write something as creative and dark as this.

Two senior officers of my local council (from the caring profession) recently fell upon their swords when they were found to have raided the bank accounts of disabled people for 7 years, totalling £500,000. This song, particularly the last two minutes or so, is an appropriate musical theme and sums up their value to wider humanity - NOUGHT

Io preferisco questa alla versione album. Io preferisco PH sola, senza altri strumenti per diluire la canzone.

I absolutely agree. Please check out my other videos, which include "Faint Heart and the Sermon" plus "(No More) The Sub Mariner" from the same live sessions, which are also better than the studio versions, plus a few other live solo masterpieces.
