Some folks’ lives roll easy as a breezeDrifting through a summer nightHeading for a sunny dayBut most folks’ livesOh, they stumble, Lord, they fallThrough no fault of their ownMost folks never catch their starsAnd here I am, LordI’m knocking at your place of businessI know I ain’t got no business hereBut you said if I ever got so lowI was bustedYou could be trustedSome folks’ lives roll easySome folks’ lives never roll at allThey just fallThey just fall,Some folks’ livesShow less

This was my favourite album of all time until Rumours (Fleetwood Mac) but this song brings back some wonderful memories nevertheless.

The lyrics to this song are very profound. People should try to keep this sentiment in mind more often when they deal with one another. But for the grace of God and all that jazz. The only lyric I find more insightful than this is The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," where Pete Townshend wrote "meet the new boss, same as the old boss." And maybe a few lyrics from Dylan.

Saw him in London in '75. Still one of the most astounding gigs I've ever been to.

After the Sandy Hook tragedy this song resonates so strongly. Little folks' lives not allowed to roll.

I just love the backing vocals and the sax solo in the end. The sax I kinda know, but who has this lovely voice ? Anyone?

If you take the power to congeal a mountain of hurt and experience into a few lines of poetry enhanced by a true musical artist you discover a unique individual named Paul Simon. Long live the poets and lovers that fill thimbles with my oceans of tears. Thank you Paul for all the music.

I'll tell you one thing. I have 3 daughters, whom I love 100% to hell and back. You know how it is because you have/had children yourself. But from the moment they were born there was this hidden but huge anxiety that something bad would happen to them. That one of them would die in some terrible accident. I know, it's only fear, it's not experience. I hope and pray that I will never have to belong to that 'small club' of yours, and I know that you wouldn't want me to. Still I can relate, too.

@MsOJG so sorry to hear that. my jesse died june 2, 2004, four days before her tenth birthday and it still crushes me some days.....we're both members of a small club to which no one wants to belong......i find music both triggers and can heal my grief at times....
