I watch this and instantly time warp back to the best time in Aussie music history, if you were there, you know what I mean. It's so sad all the kids are exposed to these days is TV talent quests and 'Autotune' electronic sounds (I refuse to call it music). I must confess I lost interest in The Oils in the late 80's when they got a more commercial sound. Peter, it's time to leave politics and do a 30th anniversary tour of 10 to 1.

Man, I love that pre-digital era electronic sound. I've always loved the Oils since the first time I saw them in 2002, which was the first rock gig I ever went to (I was born in the year before this video was filmed, so give me a break), and had never heard this song before the concert - which is among my favourite. The only albums I had ever listened to up until a month ago were Diesel n Dust and Blue Sky Mining. But just discovered their pre-Goat Island albums, and just luuuuv em.

Oils on the Water was staged on 13 January 1985 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Triple J, Australia's publicly owned youth radio network. This concert was performed on Sydney's Goat Island for a small audience of competition winners, and was simulcast on ABC-TV and Triple J. To this day, this is the best concert I have ever watched. The band of my teenage years. My Beatles, I love The Oils :)

quality is soo sooo good - thank you so much Skitizen for uploading this concert- Considering Midnight oils position in Aus music history i think these clips should be considered as heritage pieces. really effective way to jolt ones memory back to this time in Aus.
