Memorable interpretation by Mr. Frank. Sung with the honesty and sincerity that allows the message of the song to resonate with those of us who can relate to this style of music. Great chart also by Lawrenceville's own, Billy May with that bouncy swing keeping the tempo just right. All in all a very worthy effort!

You clearly didn't understand what I said about people like Taylor Swift, and most of our discussion is down to semantics. If you want to include everything in the word luck, then you can do that, sure. But that doesn't mean that that is a very informative or correct way to look at things. I think my points are clear, so I'm not going to repeat them. It would be a waste of time.

Well look, if you think that Taylor Swift who has enough trouble just staying on key is really the most talented young singer today then I'm inclined to rest my case. Of course most singers who hit the big time have talent, sometimes very impressive talent, but there are thousands of brilliant singers who are relatively unknown. BTW I don't consider "looks" a talent but looks have always helped. Ex. ELVIS, KATHERINE JENKINS, LENA HORNE

Yeah sure. And the fact that he was the best was probably also a coincidence back then. And yes, Taylor Swift is probably the most talented, but the music idustry looks for different talents these days, like looks. And they don't look for voices that are naturally good but voices that are good after they get autotuned. I think it's ridiculous to credit every human accomplishment to luck, which is what happens when you us your logic.

"Those facts about the world" are also coincidence. It is coincidence, i.e. luck, that a fellow such as Sinatra was born across the river from New York City and as a kid got favorable attention from some influential (if rather unsavory folks) to push his career along. Of course he was talented and ambitious which helps enormously. But the idea that the most famous and financially successful performers are always the most talented is absurd. Is Taylor Swift the most "talented" singer today?

Florencione

No, luck is coincidences. Those facts about the world are conditions that create a playing field. And within that Playing field Frank was the most talented, which is why he became the most famous.

Ummh. . . why should someone have to be able to speak English well to become a famous pop singer? Actually, of course, it does help and that, too, IS LUCK. "Facts about the world" that a person has no control over amount to LUCK.

But how many of those 6 billion speak english well enough to become a popular singer? And in how much music styles is just being a good singer good enough to become famous? These are all factors. They are not luck, they are just facts about the world. Anyone can join a talent show like Susan Boyle. So she is the worst possible example of luck. Much better examples are Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney or John Lennon, who just stumbled upon people who totally complemented teir talent perfectly.
