From the 1959 "Jane Morgan Time" album (KAPP KL-1170) -

Victor Young composed this lovely song for the 1949 film "My Foolish Heart" with lyrics by Ned Washington.

"The night is like a lovely tune,

Beware, my foolish heart.

How white the ever constant moon,

Take care, my foolish heart.

There's a line between love and fascination,

That's hard to see on an evening such as this,

For they both give the very same sensation

When you're lost in the magic of a kiss.

His lips are much too close to mine,

Beware, my foolish heart.

But should our eager lips combine,

Then let the fire start,

For this time it isn't fascination,

Or a dream that will fade and fall apart,

It's love, this time it's love, my foolish heart."

As a child I would hear my mum sing this around the house and at family parties. This brings back so many memories. : )

Good fast bouncy version. Prefer Lesley Gore's interpretation. Do not like Tom Jones' rendition. Good job by Jane.

This is lovely, as are many other versions of this beautiful song. But listen to Margaret Whiting's unreleased recording on youtube. For me, nothing else iquite matches hers. It's perfect.

Thanks Theresa. Your tastes are obviously the same as mine. You also mention the song 'Tangerine', which also holds many memories. I recently came across and album by Vaughn Monroe, on which is recorded his greatest hit 'There I've said it again' and also a great rendition of 'Tangerine'. Well worth a listen.

This song was out about the same time I met my late wife Joan, way back in the 40s. I can never forget it and when I hear it it brings back the joy, excitement and wonder of having met such a wonderful girl whom, I knew that without a doubt we would spend our whole life together..

She actually studied at the Juilliard School, intending to be an opera singer. She earned part of her tuition by singing in a night club, where she was discovered and whisked away to Paris to sing in cabarets. She became a great success there, as well as other parts of Europe, before returning to America.
