There were reports that the oldest brother may have survived the sinking but died the next day in the water, swimming from group to group trying to find his brothers. Many sailors off the Juneau died in the water from wounds and shark attacks before they were rescued.

@OraleD it is about world war II, and the five sullivan brothers who enlisted and were serving together on the same ship the U.S.S Juneau, and during the battle of guadalcanal all five of them were killed when a japanese battleship shelled the Juneau and she sank with the loss of over 70% of her crew

@monoclecobra are you kidding me? when you have any of your children overseas fighting for our country the parents have a small red white and blue banner they hang in their window of their home, each star denotes one child so if you have 3 of our children fighting you have 3 stars, if one of your kids die in action you change one of the blue stars to gold stars, are you an american? jesus everyone in this country knows that. in Mrs.Sullivans case she changed all 5 of her blue stars to gold.
