Lou used to sing at the Coraopolis YMCA in his early days. I remember riding the bus with him coming back from Pittsburgh. Good to see a 'Rocks" guy make good. He really is a class act.

on Friday nights (school year) we went bowling and when we walked home we would stop by the 24 hour laundry mat and drop a quarter (3 songs for a quarter) in the juke box and play this song many a time (also played "what goes on" (beatles) often .... also would buy a ten cent chicken broth or hot chocolate out of vending machine since for a lot of the school year .... it was on the cool side (north central ohio). too bad kids don't even leave the house for entertainment anymore!

I remember this song Mike, nice simple video too buddy. You sure have a lot of views and comments on this one Mike, way to go!! I just finished a video, I will upload on Holy Saturday, being Lent my game plan is to be on YT only 3 or 4 days a week, this will be very hard for me to do, seeing how I love it so much. I will turn off my PC now and will not be back on YT until Monday. Have a good Saturday and Sunday Mike

1st of all, props to Munrows Retro for his excellent portrayal broadcast on AM1070 KNTH in Houston, Texas today, 2/19/15. Thursday has arrived, with visions of the weekend just around the corner. Salem Radio Houston is OUT of coffee! Of course, I have it covered with some Maxwell House French Roast Coffee (yes, it's French roast this morning) and the AM1070 5:20 oldie. It is Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco's birthday today. Of course, you know him as Lou Christie. In 1965, after his discharge from the military, Lou signed with MGM records, who reportedly disliked Christie's 1st single for the label so much, that MGM's president reportedly threw the tape into a wastepaper basket. But Christie's new management promoted the record in California, and when it gained some traction (eventually reaching #2 on 93 KHJ the last two weeks of 1965), MGM released it. "Lightnin' Strikes" reached #1 in the U.S. on Christie's 23rd birthday, today on February 19, 1966. The song entered the UK Top 20, becoming his 1st hit in that country; and peaked at #1 in Canada. The song featured his signature falsetto and included a female chorus (Bernadette Carroll, Denise Ferri, and Peggy Santiglia) shouting "Stop!" in counterpoint to the Lou's lead vocal. Happy 71st birthday to Lou Christie. have a good Thursday.
