On this day in 1963 {March 2nd} a rock 'n roll show titled 'Limbo Party' was held at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA...One of the eight* acts appearing on the show was Lou Christie; at the time his debut record, "The Gypsy Cried", was at #27 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, and eight days later on March 10th it peaked at #24 {for 1 week} and spent 13 weeks on the Top 100...Between 1963 and 1974 he had twelve Top 100 records; three made the Top 10, "Two Faces Have I' at #6 in 1963, "Lightnin' Strikes" at #1 for one week in 1966, and "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" at #10 in 1969...Mr. Christie, born Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco, celebrated his 72nd birthday eleven days ago on February 19th {2015}...* the other acts were the Four Seasons, Marvin Gaye, the Crystals, Paul & Paula, Dick & Dee Dee, Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, and Chubby Checker {who hosted the show}...

Awesome range! Like Roy Orbison, he hit the high notes without having to use falsetto.

Great song. He & Frankie Valle both used stage names. I haven't looked it up but we're talking L C. Both could get it up as they say. This isn't one of his Bad Boy Songs.

I was a pre-teen when I heard this, and fell in love with the sound of " Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco" (AND Venzetti)!
