I can barely recognize it, but I think I prefer it this way.

I saw Cohen sing this song in Perth Australia in 1985 and he was spellbinding!! He sang and behaved like a man possessed. A stunning performance from the maestro.

as yet another 17 year old kid, i too prefer the album version..... the lyrics are delivered with much more aggression, and i too enjoy the female backing singers...however, in saying that, im yet to hear a Cohen performance that wasn't absolutely incredible

I have a live version of this with the added verse from 1985 in Montreaux and I also believe from Iceland in 1988. I like this version a bit better than the album version myself.

I like the original better, but this one isn't too bad.

Your opinion is as valid as mine (if not more so!). It may be that this is new to me whilst I have been listening to the other one for a long time. It is great that youth appreciates the great man and not just the "Music-was-better-in-my-day" mob. :o)

i would have to disagree, this is a great rendition of the song but the album version just seems to come across much stronger to me. but that is just the opinion of a 17 year old kid. plus i love the female backing vocals on it.

This is just terrific and I much prefer this version to the one on the album: he really improved the lyrics, in my opinion. Thanks for posting!
