Saw one of their last shows w/o Steve Perry at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Neil Shon back then just ripped and ripped and ripped. They even played some songs off Infinity, but like most of you I prefer the first 3 albums.

With all the Neil Schon / Gregg Rollie love going on, I feel it necessary to point out that Aynsley Dunbar was playing drums. Another great who also played with early Journey.

I saw this Journey band headline at Winterland SF before the lead singer in 1975. It was the hottest rock show I ever saw. They were so over the top that people in the audience were oooing and ahhhing because we were all blown away. Neil Schon really showed his stuff in this first album & live it was amazing. When they got the singer I thought they went bubblegum. Still good after that. This is the best Journey! I prefer more instrumental...

Even Carlos has got to admit he was getting his Ass handed to him every night by the then 15 year old Neil Schon LOL >:]Carlos has always been way over rated.

I like both eras... but this is music, in the true sense of word: Art, fun, tripin’, technique... the Steve Perry's era is... well... is just good fun!

Journey should have kept this sound. The backdrop used for this album was in the Nocturne shop in San Francisco; don't know where it might be today.

I pulled out my old CD of this album and listened to it on the way to work today. What a rocking song this is. Plenty of jazz influences and really ramps up in the middle. Such a kickin' instrumental.
