I still have the film, it is 3 minutes long, i had it transfered to vhs in 1989.. It might have been with the Bel-Air Bandits, but didn't some of papa members joined that group ?

Could it have been 1980? Papa Doo quit working with J&D after our summer tour of 1980. Do you still have your super 8 film? I'd love to get a copy on DVD. - Don Z. PDRR.

I saw you guys back in 1981 at The Warwick Music Theater in Rhode Island. What a great show, I took super 8mm movies of the performance!!

I remember those shows. Jan's biggest concern at round theaters, was getting off the moving stage and going up the correct aisle at the end of the show. A couple of times, we sent him up the wrong aisle on purpose. He was a great sport.

Saw Jan & Dean with Papa Dorunrun a couple of times in the Cleveland area around 1980. The shows were at the Front Row Theater - a round theater where the stage rotated during the entire concert! I'm sure that had to be fun for the performers. Always remember those as the best J&D shows! Thanks! Dave in Canton, Ohiio

I got the chance to meet Jim, just by chance, yesterday at the Red Robin restaurant at the Orange (CA) mall... just happened to get seated at booth next to my daughter and I. What a great guy, gave my kid a couple of bucks to play the "claw machine" thing that nobody ever wins on. What a great guy.

Sorry, no video from Santa Clara Co Fair. We didn't get to know Gertie very well. She came along in the 80's after we parted ways with J&D. - Don Z.

Oh wow, the 1978/79 band tours had a re "surf" tide that gave the Beach boys, jan and dean (who was on several talk shows speaking about his rehab after the crash) and other "surfing" bands, I saw one of the last Beach boys concerts in Saratoga NY with Dennis in the band. Most of the "surfin" groups had new singers etc, but this video brings back the memories (nee socks) etc..

Disneyland! Does the name Cathi and Lori sound familiar? BTW, tell Jim to cut his hair. Cathi saw and hated it. I am a grandmother now living in Chicago remarried to a awesome guy for 19 yrs. life is great. Glad to see you and Margie are well. Cathi is in AZ. We are still best friends. But, in all seriousness this brought back some great memories! Thanks.

We only look old, because we ARE old! However, in my mind I;m still 29. Where do we know you from, LoriAnn?

Oh God Don, I just came across this! It is too funny. But you can stop posting stuff like this because it really makes us look old. Because I was around at that time!!! You guys are still great. Take care.

Although I love what you guys have done for the past few decades, I was referring to Jan & Dean.

I wouldn't say we are wildly successful, nor are we FORCED to cover Brian's tunes. We actually LIKE them. We grew up on the Beach Boys and the British invasion, and in the beginning, 42 years ago, we specialized in and were known for covering the hits of the Animals, Doors, even Chicago. But we landed on the beach in 1972 and never looked back. Incidentally, only about 1/3 of our repertoire is BB's songs - the other 2/3 is 60's/70's classic rock. - Don Z.
