The day the sawmill closed down was small potatoes compared to the day the government shut down, do to the greed of a few wealthy Americans and their hip pocket elected congressmen and senators.!

This did reach #104, in Billboard (Sep 21, 1963) and "bubbled under" the Top 100 for two weeks.

You are correct that this never reached the national charts. It charted at #19 on WLS in October 1963. It was also played a lot on my hometown top 40 station in Kalamazoo, MI in the fall of '63. You're welcome for the post and I'm glad you now have heard this fine song.

Thanks for posting this...never heard it before. According to the Las Solanas / ARSA website, this song it was a "Top 30" hit in both Endicott, NY and Springfield, MA as well as a "pick hit" in Pittsburg, CA and St. Louis, MO, though I don't believe that it reached the national charts.

In the summer of 1965, when I was just 16 years old,I met Dicky Lee. Somebody who happen to be working for my father at the time, had connections with KHJ studios in Los Angeles. This was the filming of Hollywood-A-Go-Go.

This record never charted nationally but still, it's a great period single. It followed his biggest hit "Patches", then another follow up titled "I Saw Linda Yesterday" Thanks for the post my friend!

I remember this song so thanks for bringing it back. The guy in the song later got drafted and when he got out he moved to Seattle where the girl's dad had a job and the guy and girl went out, got engaged, married and three children and a dog. The End
