Elvis used this name in Jailhouse rock. His version came out in 1964 yet this version produced by one time Elvis producer Felton Jarvis was released on ABC Paramount in 1962.Arrangemet and vocals are nearly identical. Was this ELVIS???

Theres many versions of this song BUT the brilliant Clyde McPhatter does the best job by some way!!!

I assume the ABC-Paramount masters are long lost. As far as I know, there have been nothing but old 45 RPM-dubbed reissues of this material, which is a damn shame.

Per the liner notes on the CD "The Real Vince Everett", "Such A Night" was recorded Feb. 1962 in Nashville. And yes, those are the Jordanaires singing backup. I agree that Everett's version is superior to Elvis', and I'm a huge Elvis fan. It's a better production and Everett nails the vocal.

You are so right. just flip the record over and play Don't Go. He sounds nothing at all like Elvis. Its only on this song.

It's not Elvis. The guy's real name that is singing this is "Marvin Eugene Benefield" who was an Elvis soundalike and went by "Vince Everett" which of course was Elvis's stage name in the movie "Jailhouse Rock'. Marvin was born in College Park, GA in 1941.

@grandprix63 How could this be the best version of the song if it's a note-by-note copy of Elvis' rendition? This is a copy, not a bad one...but a copy. Elvis voice is from out of this world!
