He had to have his tonsils removed in the late 70's I think. Not sure exactly when. In between Netherlands and Twin Sons of Different Mother's I think. His voice was lowered a few notches and it must have been seriously challenging for him to retrain him voice. He even did the songs that had high notes in them from his first albums by developing his falsetto. Ever the consummate musician.

I had the fortunate opportunity to see Dan perform twice. First time in Arrowhead Stadium where he performed by himself as the band was stalled in Denver. He borrowed a guitar and a piano from the Eagles, Saw him again Halloween 1981 in Ames Iowa and it was one of teh best shows I ever saw, and his bass player was dressed as the devil (I think it was Kenny Passarelli)

I remember sitting with my walkman on the sidelines of my brother's soccer practices, playing and rewinding this song over and over and over again. My dad gave Dan's music to me, and I hope to do the same for my kids someday.

I was fortunate to see Dan Fogelberg in concert, with the whole band, in 1985 at Madison Square Garden in NYC.(The only song I remember was "Morning Sky". I also had the privilege to see him solo at The Westbury Music Fair in 1991 and 1997!( Now, I think it's called The Noth Fork Theatre--it's on Long Island. I never dreamed that the 97 concert would be the last time I would ever see Dan Fogelberg! But, sadly, it was the last time! Sincerely, BobbyK

I will never understand why this song was not a #1 hit. The disc jockeys were playing the wrong sides of Dan's 45's in the '70's and '80's, I guess. Dan is best remembered for his ballads, but I am so glad I learned about his positively sensational (and far too often overlooked)guitar rock anthems. Everyone who hears me play the "Phoenix" album loves it!

the other guitarist could be either Barry Burton from the Amazing Rythmn Aces or Mark Holland. Kunkel,Passarelli,Mike Hannah and Joe Vitale plus the two mention guitarist toured with him in 1981. Barry"Byrd" Burton passed away a few weeks ago due to cancer.

The only guy i can't figure out in the band is the other guitarist. Russ Kunkle is on the drums. Kenny Paserelli is on the Bass. The keyboardists are Mike Hanna and Joe Vitale.

Sony was only involved with Greetings from the West, as for as I know. I had read an interview that Dan did sometime in the late 90's or maybe later. He stated that there were six concerts or so that were filmed, and that did not include Greetings From the West.He made no indication in the interview that any had been released or would ever be made available to the public. This is probably a bootleg video.Oh well, we will take it regardless. Just really love the guy and his music.

WOW!!...what city did this show take place in?? Who is Dan playing with? Also, wonder where the original film is? This was a 3/4 camera shoot and professionally done..I would love to get the original concert footage. Maybe Sony has and will release??
