From the EP Carbon-Based Anatomy

I could be eternity

A star inside my head

touching space an inch beyond my skin

My body as an edgeless, open wind

The clouds part and the sun comes out

And when I feel scared

I declare

I have everything i need

Box up my bones

I'm free

Haste to cure the old despair

No antidote, still I repair

Someone said that bird has no wings

But I've seen it fly in dreams

The clouds part and the sun comes out

And if I feel scared

I declare

I have everything i need

Box up my bones

I'm free

With an open heart

Let go of your name

Let go of your body

Let go of your mind

Let yourself die

I'm on my way to love someone

On My way to love the one

And I don't feel scared

I declare

I have everything i need

There's just me being hard on me

Box up my bones

I'm free

This song is beyond beautiful. The lyrics accurately portray how I feel about life. The riffs are beautiful. The drumming is so technical and good. The vocals harmonize perfectly; in the first two verses, Paul's and these feminine-sounding's vocals are are in perfect coherence. It's as if whenever Paul sings, the background vocals are conforming everything he's saying. Unreal beauty.

I love this whole band the only change I would make would be cutting out the vocals entirely. To me it just downgrades the rest of the music.

Fucking shit, this is beautiful. And it's also what I'd consider to be the bridge song between this EP and Traced in Air, just like Evolutionary Sleeper feels to me like the bridge between TiA and Focus.

This song is so special to me. Correlates with my emotions and beliefs during a particular time in my life. To me this song is about coming to terms with death during an existential crisis.

The music becomes the feeling of being alive, accompanied by sounds that carry the conversation with the soul and the reason inconparable enjoy the feeling of connection with the means by which it reaches our ears.

Emo music comes from Punk, in fact, Emo pioneers came from a Post-Hardcore background in the mid eighties.

i hate that "emo" has been put into this category. since it's just saying there's emotion in the music whether it be sadness, hate, or whatever...i dont think it should be just punk. emo's very diverse. personal opinion, i suppose. something more to think about

This has nothing to do with Emo music since emo is related to Punk.

right, i preferred the prog. metal in Cynic. That's just commercial

Holy fuck me this band is good! Think about it, anyone can noodle something together but it takes real talent to create songs you actually remember after you've listened to them. These guys have that talent!

Definitely Masvidal. Not bad music. But it's not Cynic. All bands have a "progression", but this is a *digression*. Kind of like Ozzy using his multi tracking on the new Sabbath stuff.

Haha I took acid, "died", and experienced exactly this. Now, I have no dear of death. Fuck yeah..
