Bands nowadays have no talent, listen to Aeon Spoke's Homosapien and listen to how similar they are smh.

They have not really lost it, they still sound pretty metal, not as much maybe, but still.

its funny that when focus came out most people didn't consider it very metal focus still sounds like an album that could of been released yesterday it was extremely progressive thinking and style for that time and still is really.

Well Nocturnus added kayboards to death metal and around 89/90 that was considered by many very "soft" also. I guess fans were much more close minded back then

why is it weird i feel they lost their metal touch they had on FOCUS

I didn't know about Cynic until recently but I think they have an awesome thing going on :) I do prefer new Cynic, but I can appreciate the old stuff. Bands change, just like every human over their lifetime. Anyways, some of their new music reminds me a bit of Puscifer (Maynard J. Keenan of Tool)

Guess I am one of the few people who enjoy the new Cynic. But I heard Traced In Air before Focus. I enjoy everything Cynic has done so far and I hope they continue to make great music like this or like they did when they started up.

I was kinda like you for this album but if you listen to it for what it is and not try and think of Cynic as originally a metal band, you'll really enjoy this record. I'm sure on the next full album they'll carry on where "Traced In Air" left off :)
