Cream, "White Room" guitar lesson. Today we're using the Dirty Little Secret MKIII foundation overdrive from Catalinbread to give us an early Marshall tone. The intro starts with a 5/4 time signature for a staggering, dramatic sound. White room also features an early use of the wah pedal which blew a few minds back in '68. The main riff employs a Csus2 chord that moves to a G/B, a great way to contrast the power chords that complete the measure. To reproduce the same talking effect in the song, we chose the Vox Hand Wired Wah, which nails the vocal-like sweep of that era. Enjoy your daily guitar lesson.

And no I am not FUCKING kidding you! Bank Bank DE DE. I know there is no de de there. I know the difference between de de and an upstroke on a double stop you ass.

Nice but with wah wah pedals less is more. If you overdo it it just sounds gimmicky.

That riff is not synonymous with Sweet Home Alabama. If you listen to Clapton, he does not 'pop' the strings form the Dda and Cda. It flows. Same notes for a brief second but not the same structure. Listen to the Song. Not someone's interpretation of it...bank bank de de, bank bank de de................turn it up. Are you fucking kidding me?

Hmm.. the last chord of the intro... Am sounds fine but if you play A major7 as the last chord that works. Actually save that one for the last chord before the guitar solo and let it sustain.. !

Cream actually stole this riff from themselves. Listen to "Tales of Brave Ulysses"

As usual, awesome song choices and great and simple ways of explaining it all! Great thought with the slow version with the 5/4 time counter! Please keep 'em coming... and please do tell us some about that compensated nut!

I meant that to sound more humorous than it sounded (Cream using a time machine to steal riffs...or any band doing it for that matter), but I suppose it might have sounded a little demeaning. No harm meant.
