Bun E is one tasty, musical drummer. Love that chugging snare sound of his. I don't know how you can listen to his work, especially the live stuff like Budakan, and think he's only "average," but de gustibus and all that.... The only reason I'd see Cheap Trick today is if he were playing with them.

is that mark bell at 4:59 talking loud and getting the stink eye from bun e at drum clinic instead of listening to the multimillionaire drummer from one of the biggest bands in the 80's

I've searching high and low for an isolated drum track of , "Go For the Throat (Use Your Own Imagination)". For some of the 'this dude is an average drummer' postings; take a listen to this track and tell me he's not supremely talented. This particular clip; remember he's merely talking about and playing, drum licks from the bands he grew up listening to.

EmpireJunkie, I agree with you concerning Mark Bell. It can also be said that Richard Starke (Ringo Starr) was a fair to average drummer but he was part of the biggest band ever. By Mr Bell's logic shouldn't HE be a bitter loser too since he never "made it big"?So make with the "star status" video Mark and show us how you'll teach Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy "how it's done"!Buffoon.

Mark Bell, did you go to college to be a moron or are you completely natural? Probably the latter. I'm assuming you have played to sold out crowds on street corners and public washrooms to make an asinine statement like that. I think Mr. Carlos didn't do too bad for himself and I was fortunate enough to catch Cheap Trick live with the original lineup and he rocked the joint. Looking forward to seeing your video on here Mr. Bell so we can be in awe of your immense talents.

love this vid cuz he's doing all the licks he does on "Live At Budokan" especially his epic intro on "Ain't That A Shame".

I don't think Bobby Elliott was ever sessioned

What an idiotic statement. I guess being in a band that has sold 20 million records is never having "made it big" What an idiot.

Well ..I kind of agree. I will see cheap trick Nov. 15th without Bun E Carlos. What am I supposed to do? May be the last chance to see this band....sadly never saw them live before.

That's where I think Bun gets away with his side of the story. First he does not specify which tracks he fell in love with that he found out later another drummer was on the commercial record - so it's hard to say where the truth is in his statement as sometimes it was the record company who pushed a session musician in for their own political reasons.

Bun E. did something like this at the Trickfest fan festivals held back in the '90's...He is very much a drummer that "made it big" in the late '70's and after all his fame and notoriety, he seems to be a very down to earth fan of music just like us...I've met him on several occasions, and he has always been the consumate gentleman who takes time to talk to fans and admirers! Sad that he has been replaced in the touring band, Cheap Trick...No Bun E., no Cheap Trick!!
